Hidden among the rich, natural beauty of North West Bali is Odiyana Bali, a Buddhist wellness retreat designed for individuals, couples or spiritual groups to find some time out from the rush of the modern world.

Odiyana was the birthplace of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, the Indian Master who established Buddhism in Tibet by taming the wild inhabitants of the Tibetan plateau and transforming them through his spiritual charisma and creativity.

In the 8th century, his teachings became the Ancient Order (Nyingma) of Tibetan Buddhism. In this age of technology, his instructions are more essential than ever.

The present Dalai Lama himself has stated the importance of Padmasambhava in this day and age.

Odiyana Bali is inspired by our Tibetan Buddhist roots as well as the local spiritual traditions of Bali.

We welcome the vast spectrum of travellers to enjoy the peace of our lush retreat centre nestled within luminous green rice paddies and overlooking the volcanoes of Java and the Bali Sea.

Tranquil north Bali is growing in popularity as a refreshing alternative to the hustle and bustle of the South, leading adventurous travellers off the beaten path. As well as holding our events from the Nyingma tradition, we run events in harmony with various groups from around the world in the fields of yoga, meditation, healing and ancient spirituality. We also welcome solo travellers to spend time in our traditional poolside bale cabins or to attend our daily meditation and yoga classes.

The heart of odiyana

The Medicine Buddha

At the heart of our retreat is a 3.8 metre Medicine Buddha statue. This has been constructed as a memorial to the Buddhist Master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and is filled with various relics including some from  Dilgo Khyentse himself. The Medicine Buddha is said to be a powerful practice for healing in these turbulent times.
